October 25 - 27, 2024, Tourism Event (Tour Guiding Service Grouping) of the 2024 World Vocational School Skills Competition Finals was held at Shanghai Institute of Tourism, with 63 teams from vocational colleges in different parts of China entering the competition. Among the Gold Award recipients is the team from Tourism College of Zhejiang (TCZJ) comprised of two trainers: Xu Huihui and Yu Peihong, and four students: Liu Yizhou, Wu Wenting, Fu Xinyi and Chen Yuxin.

Tour Guiding Service is one of the significant events in the upgraded World Vocational School Skills Competition, establishing itself as a barometer for the professionalism of tourism talent training. Nowadays, the practice of competition-galvanized teaching and studying has become an effective model for the integration of industry and schools and for nurturing good tour guide professionals.

In March 2024, the TCZJ team was awarded the First Prize in the Tour Guiding Service event (Vocational College Grouping) of the 2024 Zhejiang Vocational School Skills Competition, and thus qualified to enter the National Finals which was later officially upgraded to the World Vocational School Skills Competition in September 2024. As a result, the team timely adapted to the new rule and system of the Competition, making a concentrated effort in gearing up for the Finals. Against the odds, the team members made the most of the available resources and pulled out all the stops. With the subject of “Tourism Making a Better Family,” the team’s entry was designed to cater to those three-generation family tourists with customized tour guiding service. At last, they won over the judges and landed the Gold Award.
