From October 8th to 16th, eight sophomores of Tourism Japanese majors from Tourism College of Zhejiang (TCZJ), led by professor YANG Yue, conducted an eight-day study tour exchange activity in Toyo Gakuin University in Japan.
At the welcome ceremony, Mr. Tsujinaga Yutaka, President of Toyo Gakuin University, Ms. Sarah Birchley, Director of the International Education Center, Professor CHENG Yin from the Department of International Relations, and other Japanese leaders and representatives of teachers and students warmly welcomed the delegation from TCZJ and introduce the arrangements for the study tour exchange program. During the event, teachers and students from both schools engaged in friendly interactions. After the meeting, the teachers and students visited the campus under the guidance of Japanese teachers.
During the study tour exchange period, TCZJ students participated in a series of lectures such as "Sino-Japanese Relations and Prospects" and "One Asia," given by renowned international relations scholar Professor Zhu Jianrong, and Professor Sato Ryo, an authority on international relations from the University of Tokyo. They also joined their Japanese counterparts in experiencing traditional Japanese cultural activities like flower arranging (ikebana) and tea ceremony (sado). In addition, they visited famous Japanese scenic spots such as Kamakura, Enoshima, and Sensoji Temple. The study tour has broadened the international perspective of the students, enhanced their professional Japanese language skills, deepened their understanding of Japanese culture, and raised their awareness of cultural exchange and mutual learning between civilizations as well.
At the closing ceremony on October 15th, Mr. Aichi Tarou, Chairman of Toyo Gakuin University, attended the event and congratulated the eight students on successfully completing their study tour. He expressed hope that the two schools would further strengthen cooperation and communication to jointly promote sustainable development in the cultivation of Japanese language talents. Professor YANG Yue expressed gratitude to Toyo Gakuin University for the meticulous organization and arrangement of this study tour exchange activity, and looked forward to strengthening of exchanges and cooperation between the two schools, laying a foundation for deeper collaboration.
TCZJ established a friendly cooperative relationship with Toyo Gakuin University in Japan in 2015. Prior to this, delegations of faculty and students from Toyo Gakuin University had visited TCZJ multiple times for study tours and exchanges. This was the first time that TCZJ teacher and students carry out a study tour in Toyo Gakuin University. The activity has further strengthened communication and exchanges between the two schools, not only promoting cultural exchanges among students from China and Japan, deepening the friendship among teachers and students, but also reinforcing the international teaching characteristics of the Tourism Japanese major in the college, contributing to the continuous improvement of professional talent training quality.
