TCZJ Spearheads Another International Standard Pre-Research Project
Time : 2025-05-15

Recently, the International Standard Pre-research Project for "Tourism and Related Services - Guidelines for Mountain Tourism Information and Consultation Services," jointly proposed by our college, Sichuan Tourism University, and the International Mountain Tourism Alliance (IMTA), was officially approved as a PWI (Preliminary Work Item) by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) with 34 countries in favor and zero opposing votes.

This marks the third international standard led by our college, following "Tourism Information and Consultation Services - Requirements and Recommendations" (ISO 14785:2024) and "Training of Tourism Information and Consultation Service Personnel - Case Studies" (ISO/TR 25734). The Guidelines have received joint support from the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the International Mountain Tourism Alliance, as well as positive responses from countries including India, Italy, and the United Arab Emirates. The UAE specifically noted that the Guidelines align closely with its national tourism strategy and green agenda, which will promote the standardization and international development of its emerging mountain tourism industry.

Currently, mountain tourism accounts for approximately 20% of global tourism revenue, with an annual output value exceeding USD 100 billion, and has gained increasing attention in the post-pandemic era. The Guidelines provide systematic guidance on mountain tourism information services, covering basic principles, activity and service information, service support, and quality control. They aim to enhance the safety of mountain tourism, protect the ecological environment, and promote sustainable synergy with local communities, and are applicable to various types of mountain tourism service organizations.
