On December 11, the 2024 "Picturesque Zhejiang" Storytelling Show for Foreigners——Seeking for Intangible Cultural Heritages Awards Ceremony, hosted by Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture Radio Television and Tourism and organized by Tourism College of Zhejiang, successfully concluded in Hangzhou. The event was attended by Chen Rufu, Chen Rufu, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director General of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture Radio Television and Tourism, President Du Lanxiao of Tourism College of Zhejiang, as well as experts, scholars, and participants from various countries.
President Du Lanxiao fully acknowledged the achievements of the event and expressed hope that more international friends would join in sharing Zhejiang's stories, promoting cultural exchange and mutual learning. Deputy Director General Chen Rufu emphasized that Zhejiang's intangible cultural heritage serves as an important window to showcase Chinese civilization, noting that the Storytelling Show for Foreigners, now in its third year, has become a significant platform for sharing China's stories with the world.
The event received 122 submissions from 28 countries, with 8 individual awards and 10 outstanding works selected. Among them, David, an Australian teacher, won the Best Charm Award for his work "David Adventures into the Bronze World." To deepen the intangible cultural heritage experience, the organizing committee also arranged a "Intangible Cultural Heritage+" cultural route, inviting foreign participants to visit heritage villages and engage with inheritors of intangible cultural heritage.
The outstanding works will be promoted globally through overseas social media platforms such as Discover Zhejiang. The event garnered attention from over a hundred domestic and international media outlets, with online exposure exceeding tens of millions, injecting new vitality into the promotion of Zhejiang's intangible cultural heritage.
